'Hot and dirty' New Orleans music created to parade to, to live to, to love to, and most importantly to dance to at The Speakeasy Party.
Sarah Spencer formed the Transatlantic Band when she lived in the USA and traveled across the USA and the UK with the band from around 1997 until the present day. The Transatlantic Band plays New Orleans music, from the dance halls of New Orleans in the 1920’s, through the New Orleans Revival, to the legendary New Orleans Rhythm and Blues/Rock and Roll performers like Fats Domino and Little Richard.
This six-piece ensemble is an exciting combination of seasoned veterans and fresh young talent performing the music of the Big Easy, covering the entire history of New Orleans: from its earliest days when ragtime was transitioning to jazz, through the influences of the great brass bands and Storeyville houses of ill repute, to the mainstay of music including the Preservation Hall Jazz Bands.

Sarah “one of the exciting, new, young breed of traditional players and the hottest tenor saxophonist on the Jazz scene today,” started playing clarinet at the age of 8 and the tenor sax at 15, later taking up the baritone, alto and soprano saxophones. She started playing the British traditional jazz scene at 18; was the youngest visitor to play in Preservation Hall, New Orleans at 19; and formed the first of her own bands at 20. Sarah moved to America and since then, she has made numerous guest appearances around the world, recorded several CD's, and appeared at festivals around the world, including playing at the Purcell Room of the Royal Festival Hall in London.
