Named after the New Orleans classic “Iko Iko, The Ikos are led by one of Europe’s top exponents of New Orleans rhythm and Blues, piano Dom Pipkin who has performed all over the world, both as a solo artist and with artists as diverse as David Byrne, Paloma Faith, and Morcheeba. These tickets will fly!
Dom Pipkin breathes new life into the classic funk and RnB sounds of The Meters, Dr John, Fats Domino and Professor Longhair with a stellar list of festival and radio and TV appearances including The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the London Jazz Festival, and an extended residency at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club.
Pipkin is a regular performer in New Orleans with appearances including the prestigious “Piano Night” at the world-famous Jazz and Heritage Festival, alongside such luminaries as the late Allen Toussaint, Jon Cleary, and Ellis Marsalis. The Ikos had a two year residency at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz club in London, and have headlined festivals up and down the land. Their sets mine the music of Dr John, Lee Dorsey, Professor Longhair, the Meters and the whole catalogue of classic Nola RnB and funk, mixing the classics with Pipkin’s own compelling songwriting.
