RJR’s Monthly Hip-Hop open mic with headliners and cypher this month with Babylon Dead, No Ice Cream Sound, A. Alchemy & Sandman.
Babylon Dead
Comprised of two of the most respected artists to emerge from the UK hip hop circuit over the past decade, Jman, who has spent the past few years earning a reputation for being able to destroy any riddim that gets thrown his way. From grime and hip hop, to DnB and ragga, dexterous is an understatement. He has worked with High Focus, Split Prophets, The Mouse Outfit and RLD Records, among others; a claim that not many UK artists can make. A staple part of the festival circuit too, Jman is an essential ingredient for making the rave pop off.
Behind the boards, you will find Illinformed. Arguably one of the best producers working in the UK right now, his status as a purveyor of the finest head nod beats is in no doubt. Thanks to a number of collaborative projects with the likes of Lee Scott and Verb T, as well as his own releases – including the critically acclaimed, Mold Tape – Illinformed has become the go-to guy for quality assured production. He is also ridiculously prolific, with a string of solid beat tapes in his back catalogue.
Together as Babylon Dead, the duo are setting themselves up as the figureheads for a new musical movement; one that is very necessary as anger towards the establishment boils up worldwide.
