New Orleans music was created to parade to, to live to, to love to, and most importantly to dance to!

Featuring the incomparable Sarah Spencer on sax and vocals, Fred Vigotito on cornet, Mike Owen on trombone and vocals, Jimmy Mazzy on banjo and vocals, Bill Sinclair on piano, Art Hovey on string bass and tuba, and Tom Palinko on drums Sarah Spencer’s Transatlantic Band is an unmissable gem in the RJR calendar.

This seven-piece ensemble is an exciting combination of seasoned veterans and fresh young talent performing the music of the Big Easy, covering the entire history of New Orleans: from its earliest days when ragtime was transitioning to jazz, through the influences of the great brass bands and Storeyville houses of ill repute, to the mainstay of music including the Preservation Hall Jazz Bands.

Described as “one of the exciting, new, young breed of traditional players and the hottest tenor saxophonist on the Jazz scene today,” Sarah’s creed has always been to “play it Hot and Dirty”. Sarah started playing clarinet at the age of 8 and the tenor sax at 15, later taking up the baritone, alto and soprano saxophones. She started playing the British traditional jazz scene at 18; was the youngest visitor to play in Preservation Hall, New Orleans at 19; and formed the first of her own bands at 20. Sarah moved to America and since then, she has made numerous guest appearances around the world, recorded several CD's, and appeared at festivals around the world, including playing at the Purcell Room of the Royal Festival Hall in London.
