6th September - Session 1
In this six-week program, we cover the basics of the craft of stand-up comedy. The course is taught by British-based American comic Erich McElroy. Erich has been a professional stand-up in the UK for more than 15 years. He’s performed at The Comedy Store, Glee Club, The Stand, The Frog and Bucket, Covent Garden Comedy, 99 Club, Krater Comedy at the Komedia.
The course is appropriate for those brand new to comedy and who want to give it a try, as well as for newer performers who want to gain more confidence, sharpen their performance and learn more about the business of stand-up comedy.
The course will:
Cover how to be natural and comfortable on stage
Provide a chance to get up, try your ideas and get continuing feedback
Give you the skills to be a great MC
Cover the 'do’s and don’t’s' of talking to the audience
Help you structure your set, find your voice and learn what you want to present to the audience
Cover practical tips for getting gigs or maybe even start your own.
