The Speakeasy Party: TJ Johnson and his band

TJ will take you on a dusty trail from the smokey Jazz dives of New Orleans through the foot tapping Honky Tonks of Texas to the gin-soaked Speakeasies of New York.

This week The Speakeasy Party transports you to a Jazz bar from the bygone era with an intimate show from the proud recipient of the Best Blues Singer award 2018 at the Boisdale Music Awards, presented by Jools Holland.

Backed by his group of top London-based musicians, TJ plays an extraordinary blend of music that transcends the boundaries of jazz, blues, soul, country and gospel and is influenced by some of the greats such as Ray Charles, Dr John, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, BB King, Nina Simone, Alberta Hunter, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Witherspoon and many more.
